Then choose one or more activities to accompany it:
1) Talk about things which we can be grateful to God for. Draw a picture or make a collage, or a list, of the things you discuss. Then use the following prayer, thanking God for each of the items and pointing to the picture as you do:
Dear God, we thank you because you are good. Thank you for …. . In Jesus’ name, Amen.
2) Make a special placemat with a Grace before meals. Use a large (11x17) piece of paper or cardstock. In the center of the paper, write:
Thank You for the food we eat,
Thank You for the world so sweet.
Thank You for the birds that sing.
Thank You, God, for everything. Amen
Have your child draw or cut out and paste pictures of food to surround the prayer. Have the placemat laminated. There are several ways to do this, including self-adhesive laminating sheets, or laminating pouches, available at office supply sores. The pouches are meant to be used with a laminator but also work well with an iron.
If you would rather not laminate the picture, hang it on the wall near the place you eat instead.
