We believe in the real presence of Christ both at the altar and in the lives of our neighbors.
For over 40 years, our Soup Kitchen has opened its doors 4-5pm on Saturdays serving 100-160 individuals each week. The Soup Kitchen is supported with the partnership of many local churches and organizations who provide food and additional volunteers. We are a member of Feed Nova Scotia, and are grateful for their enthusiastic support and kindness.
We are always happy to welcome new volunteers.
Sunday School for grades 1-6 runs from September to June during Holy Communion at 10:30 am on Sundays. The children are present in the church from the beginning of the service and head to the Parish Hall for their lessons and crafts after the Creed. Teachers and children then return to the service for Communion.
We also have a nursery room at the back of the church for parents with young children who need a break from the service.
YouthNet provides free programs to children and youth living in or near Uniacke Square, a public housing neighbourhood in the North End of Halifax.
YouthNet's programs strive to encourage participants to discover their talents, gain self-confidence, and dream of bright futures.
The Saint George’s Refugee Sponsorship Committee is a partnership between our parish, faculty and students at the University of King’s College, St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, and other members of Halifax’s North-end neighbourhood. We are currently sponsoring four different refugee applications which include families from Syria, South Sudan, and Uganda.
Saint George’s Parish is a Sponsor for Scouts Canada Youth Programs. We offer co-ed programs for 5-16 year olds through Beavers (ages 5-7), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (11-14) and Venturers (14-18). All groups meet in Saint George’s Church Hall. Most of the children involved are from the North End of Halifax.
Partner with us as we strive to better serve our community.
