Magnificat in the Round

Sunday, March 1, 3pm
St George’s Parish Choir, Soloists, and Players perform Bach’s Magnificat in D, BWV 243 and Handel’s Coronation Anthem, ‘My heart is inditing’. Also featured will be Scandinavian Folk Music featuring Kirsty Money on nykelharpa, Jennifer Publicover on flutes and Ellen Gibling on harp. Admission $25 for adults, $15 for students and unwaged. Proceeds to benefit both our Parish Music Programme and the construction of our new music room.

Anniversary Events this Weekend: Bishop’s Granting of Permission to Restore the Round Church

Friday, January 10, 7pm
Video Viewing in the Church Hall
The video includes original footage of the fire with local news coverage at the time, the removable of valuables from the church the next day, the first Sunday Service of Holy Communion following the fire, and the visit of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh during the rebuilding. Saturday, January 11, 5pm
Choral Evensong followed by Reflections
Our Guest preacher will be The Rev'd Dr George Westhaver, former Rector and now Principal of Pusey House, Oxford, England. Fr Westhaver was Lay Evangelist at St George’s at the time of the fire. This will be followed by a reception and a presentation of the original document which outlined the reasons for rebuilding the Round Church; and various parishioners will present their own recollections of the fire and the rebuilding. Archbishop Ron Cutler will also be in attendance at this service.
