One of the most special of our Christmas services, the Nine Lessons & Carols service follows the tradition of the great English cathedrals, alternating readings from Holy Scripture with music both new and old. Parts of the service are conducted by candlelight, as we remember the Light of the World which comes to us this time of year.

The St George’s Parish Choir was joined by the Junior Choir for the carol “Rocking,” a traditional Czech carol, arranged by David Willcocks.  We were also delighted to welcome Ellen Gibling on concert harp, who presented a 20 minute prelude of seasonal music, and Shawn Whynot as guest organist.

The offering taken at this service went to the Friends of St. George’s Society in support of the parish music programme.
