8:00 am Said Holy Communion

9:30 am Blessing of the Palms & Community Procession

10:30 am Choral Holy Communion

7:00 pm Choral Holy Communion with guest preacher Colin Nicolle

Following the 7pm Holy Communion service on Monday, a small choir will perform Thomas Tallis’ five-voice setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah. This music will be offered as a meditation for Holy Week, an opportunity to pray through the magnificent music of Tallis and the extraordinary text of the Lamentations.

Wednesday, March 23rd – Holy Wednesday

7:00 pm Tenebrae, including the famous Miserere, by Allegri

Thursday, March 24th – Maundy Thursday

7:00 pm Choral Holy Communion with foot-washing & Stripping of the Altar

9:00 pm – 7:30 am All-Night Vigil

Tonight we remember many things, from the Lord’s institution of the Holy Eucharist, to his washing of the disciples’ feet, to his betrayal by Judas. This evening’s service leads us from the joy of Christ’s meal with his friends, to the darkness of Gethsemane. Members of the congregation are encouraged to remain in the body of the church and pray in silence before they leave and to come for some portion of the all-night vigil at the altar of repose. We recollect our Lord’s agony in the Garden of Gethsemane with his disciples tonight.

The wheelchair entrance remains open throughout the night.

Friday, March 25th – Good Friday

7:30 am Morning Prayer & Mass of the Pre-Sanctified (there will be no consecration today)

At this service we meditate on the death of our Lord and are invited to receive the Body and Blood of Christ consecrated at the Maundy Thursday Eucharist.

12:00 pm Three Hour Service of Music & Meditations, with guest preacher the Rev’d Gary Thorne

Following the service, we gather as a parish to clean, wash, scrub and polish, to make ready for our Easter celebration. Come and lend a hand! Children can help too!

10:30 pm Easter Vigil & First Mass of Easter

This evening we celebrate Christ’s rising from the tomb in the ancient liturgy of the Easter Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter.

RESCHEDULED for Apr 23 – Parish Quiet Day: St Monica, Mother of Augustine, Image of the Church

February 24, 2016 at 4:08 pm

Missioner: The Rev’d Nicholas Hatt, Incumbent, Parish of the Holy Spirit

This year’s parish retreat will include a series of reflections on the life of St Monica, mother of St Augustine, offered by the Rev’d Nicholas Hatt and hosted by his parish in Mt Uniacke. Fr Hatt is well-known to our congregation. This is a tremendous opportunity both to devote ourselves to prayer and to support his ministry. There is a wonderful connection between St George’s and the parish where Fr Hatt now serves: The Rev’d Robert Fitzgerald Uniacke, Rector of St George’s from 1825-1870, laid the cornerstone of Holy Spirit Church in 1845. Please plan to attend.

St George’s Day, Saturday, April 23, 9:30am-2pm, 1231 Highway #1, Mt Uniacke (Lakelands)
